A big thank you to everybody who responded to our Cushion Sample Giveaway and left such lovely comments on our blog, Facebook and Twitter pages.  The winners, picked at random, were Naomi Newton and Jo Smith.  Well done ladies and thank you for giving our cushions lovely new homes!

Giveaway!

During a recent spring clean of our workshop [you wouldn't recognise the place now!] we came across some bespoke cushions we created, sometime ago, for a feature in Homes and Gardens magazine.  We would really love these to go to good homes, so, it's over to you...

The first cushion has the name ROSE and the date 12.2.11 hand-appliqued in dark blue/cream vintage French ticking on an off-white background.  If this name and date are special to you [or yours], get in touch, via the comments box below, or on our facebook or twitter pages, and let us know why your home would be the perfect place for this bespoke, handmade cushion.

The second cushion has THE LOFT hand-appliqued in dark blue/cream vintage French ticking on an off-white background.  Again, if this 'name' is special to your home [or the home of a friend], then leave a comment on our blog, on our facebook page or on our twitter page, and let us know why you/your home deserves this cushion!

Ta Dah!

We closed for a week at the end of our Vintage Winter Sale, to redesign the shop, or as my OH puts it "move things around AGAIN!", unpack and display some of our lovely new stock and generally give the whole place a 'spring makeover' - wish I could have one of those!

What should have been a relaxed, easy task, with time for attending a trade fair or two, catching up with suppliers, meeting new ones, etc, turned into a very stressful race against time and the weather!  My design workshop began to leak alarmingly, thanks to the snow blizzard we experienced at the weekend, covering everything inside in horrible, dirty water.  So it was 'all hands to the pump' to sort out the workshop and the shop redesign had to be done in two days rather than 5 or 6.  Best laid plans and all that... at least we are done now, the workshop is dry again, if not a little 'stained', and the shop looks beautiful [even if we do say so ourselves].

We have lots of lovely new postcards and decorative tape from Dots and Spots, as well as more of our best-selling, gorgeous, 'printed in GB using recycled paper', retro gift wrap.

This painted display shelf was obviously calling out for some of Becky's gorgeous decorative tape.  Definitely made for each other!

Our Sophie Conran ceramics collection looks lovely in this vintage French bookcase.  I love the wonderful 'spring green' colour of the presentation boxes - turns them into such wonderful gifts!

We are always so busy making our vintage linen home accessories for other shops and for magazine features that I realised we have never had our full range available in the shop.  Daft isn't it?  So that is one of our objectives for this spring - to have at least one of every design we do [which is now over 40] in the shop together as a collection.  In the meantime, here's just some of the ones we do have.  Oh, and do you like the wonderful vintage PIE sign?  Would look really great in somebody's kitchen - particularly if you are an avid pie maker or eater [or both]!

Getting Creative...

As yesterday saw the last of our Make @ Angel workshops for this year, I thought it was time to share some memories and some images with you all.

These workshops have been a bit of an experiment for us but, based on people's reactions to them, I can't believe we ever doubted the appeal of 'handmade'!

Thanks to the extremely talented Manda McGrory, the workshops have been fun and full of chatter, laughter and creativity... oh, and cake of course!

We have met some lovely people and it has been a great pleasure to watch them create beautiful things and leave, at the end of a very satisfying day, having well and truly caught the handmade bug!

All the gorgeous things you can make!
Now pay attention ladies!
Hard at Work!
Lovely Happy Smiley People!
Serious Concentration!
A slightly reluctant model!
Look what I made!

We will be launching our Spring Workshop programme very soon!  If you sign up to our e-newsletter you will get advance notice of all our workshops, shop events and online sales.

Jacks, Jacks Everywhere!

I really love designing our Vintage Jack range.  Individually handmade, using a different combination of vintage fabrics and antique buttons, each one of these iconic union jack designs is completely unique!  I never get tired of trying out different fabric mixes to see how they work together.  Surprisingly, it isn't always the most obvious combinations that work the best.  Now, wouldn't that be a great philosophy for life?!

A Window for Summer...

Yesterday I spent a few happy hours designing new window displays for the shop.  Feeling very summery [it's amazing what a bit of sunshine will do to a person], I went for a bright, garden-party look complete with wonderful, vintage French day bed, piles of gorgeous linen cushions, in zingy citrus colours, all topped off with a rainbow of paper lanterns!

Bring the summer in...

I put this mood board together to remind myself of what summer feels like - even when it isn't apparent outside!  This is just a small selection of the lovely things we have in store right now.  The gorgeous images were taken by Kevin Peschke of Millennium Studios. I'm now dreaming of blue skies, sandy beaches [preferably deserted ones!]and white-washed beach houses...
